1. Yahzeed – Of Monolithic Proportions EP

I can’t profess to know much of anything about Yahzeed other than what his press release details: originally from NJ, raised on Manhattan’s LES, raps. Actually, make that raps well, as his excellent, recently released Of Monolithic Proportions EP makes evident. The title is an ironic reference the EP’s brevity (only one of the seven songs runs over 3-minutes) – which, in fact, turns out to be one of this release’s greatest strengths – the concise nature of Yahzeed’s storytelling pairing up exceedingly well with boardsman Preservation ‘s vintage soul-infused production. Check out the clever vocal/sample interplay of “Wake ‘Em Up” below and DL the whole thing for free if you dig what you hear.
