A New York City Whole Foods is catching heat for a sign promoting a sale on chicken featuring the image of President Barack Obama. The sign was placed outside the Upper West Side market earlier this week and was removed after shoppers and passers by complained that it was offensive. Whole Foods has since apologized, stating through a spokesman, “There was no disrespect meant at all.” Some New Yorkers nonetheless expressed dismay at the market’s poor judgement. Said Jason Nunez of the Bronx: “Even if he’s not the president, you’re going to have an African-American promoting the sale of chicken? They can do better than that.” Well, at least this didn’t happen during Black History Month… er, um… Watch NBC New York’s report below.
