To all our players out there, make sure to pour out some of that Crown Royal today for the memory of the greatest rap singer to ever do the damn thing, the one and only Nate Dogg, who passed away much too soon a year ago . Blessed with some of the most exquisite vocals to lace hip-hop recordings, Nate truly was an artist who could make a good song great. The beloved R&B crooner of the G-Funk era and beyond joined his 213 podna Warren G. on stage at Los Angeles’ 92.3 The Beat Summer Jam festival back in 1997, much to the delight of the early crowd at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre. The Cali love was strong this late afternoon as Nate belted out his parts to the radio classic “Regulate” and the X-rated “Ain’t No Fun,” joined on stage by the Dogg Pound’s Daz Dillinger and backed up by DJ Rectangle on the 1’s and 2’s. (Note: The above video clip, which has some real crispy clear sound, is part 2 and begins with “Regulate” already in progress. To hear the start of the song continue on…)

Fast forward to 12:40 to see and hear Nate Dogg perform “Regulate” with Warren G.
