Our homie filmmaker Andreas Vingaard co-curated our acclaimed documentary film series programs at the Maysles Cinema the past two years. And for some time now he's been working on his own series of short video portraits of classic New Yorkers entitled "8 Million Stories" . The first installment features community activist Bill Leicht, who worked so closely with legendary early '70s South Bronx gang turned socially conscious street organization the Ghetto Brothers that he actually eventually became a member. Bill was in the building when we screened this at the Maysles, and his insights are invaluable. Props to Andreas for getting these shorts out there. Looking forward to further editions.
