Ultramagnetic MCs Introduce the 1989 NBA All-Stars (VIDEO).
This weekend the world’s greatest basketball talents (and the women who date them) converge on Houston for the 2013 NBA All-Star game. We don’t know how the introduction of the line-ups will proceed. But we know it won’t be as dope as how it went down in 1989, when Ced Gee and Kool Keith of the Ultramagnetic MCs performed the honors. And by perform, we mean perform. As in rapping a few bars dedicated to each player over the “Chorus Line” and “Give the Drummer Some” instrumentals. A few highlights: the Rhyming Force Delta rhyming “authority” and “superiority” with “the game of Brad Daugherty”; Keith uttering the words, “Kevin Duckworth/ Dominating the earth/ As the middle man/ Dominating every little man”; Patrick Ewing looking like the lost 7-foot tall member of Guy. (“‘Cause he’s an all-star!”) If only Tim Dog (RIP) had kicked a verse about Dale Ellis…
