1. WATCH: Sly Stone On “Late Night with David Letterman” (1983).

Recent news reports that Sly Stone is currently living out of a van in the Crenshaw section of L.A. had us thinking back to the enigmatic funk legend’s disappearances and reappearances of years past. Here’s one particularly intriguing TV appearance that’s stayed lodged in the memory banks of egotripland’s older gods from waaay back in the early ’80s: a seemingly rejuvenated Sly interviewed by a youthful David Letterman , pledging that his days of not showing up for shows and self-sabotaging his career are done. Don’t call it a comeback. Sadly, it wasn’t. But it was cool holding out hope back then for a minute. Sylvester Stewart – hold ya head.
