1. Slick Rick – “Behind Bars (unreleased Prince Paul mix)” circa 1992 (AUDIO).

We stumbled upon this lil’ treat earlier today on Prince Paul’s Soundcloud – part of his “Unreleased Series” cache of demos he’s been sharing with fans for a minute now. It’s the OG version of Slick Rick’s “Behind Bars” from circa ’92 . Explains Paul: “This was the original version of “Behind Bars” I recorded for Slick Rick during his incarceration in the early 90’s. The song didn’t come out until ’94, but to my surprise [it] was remixed by Warren G and Def Jam scrapped my mix. Though I’m still considered a writer of the song I was really hoping to have this heard (well in ’92 when we recorded it that is). Though it sounds pretty dated it’s still one of my favorites, and I had the pleasure of working with a genius, Slick Rick.” We were honestly never mad at Warren G’s version either, but this is pretty cool. Thanks, Paul. And once again, thanks to you too, Internetz.
