Shiznit We Slept On Vol. 14: Gang Starr On the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, 1992
Around here we consider ourselves pretty familiar with all things Gang Starr-related. Yet even we totally snoozed on this amazing TV appearance from ’92: Guru and Premier on the Tonight Show performing “Take It Personal” – prefaced by Preem giving Jay Leno a nifty little demonstration of his turntable wizardry. Something to get you started on this unofficial Guru appreciation day. RIP.

I can’t overstate how happy this video made me.
LIVE SCRATCHES IN THE HOOK. TAKE IT PERSONAL!
hype man rocking the ill Showbiz & AG shirt.
One of my top 3 Gang Starr songs of all-time. I love Jay Leno’s very Caucasian “waiting on the bus heel rock” while Premo scratches. And I wanted that tee SO BAD back in the day.
This is great to see. I think I remember Ronin Ro writing about this in The Source’s 1992 Year In Review Issue.
man this was those days that I had hiphop vhs’ just waiting in the machine! I don’t know how I knew about it, but I was AMPED to get this recorded! when I finally bought the album, I got so used to the live version that I could never get into the recorded version.
