1. THE BEST OF RACISM: Did Mitt Romney Rock "Brownface" to Appeal to Latino Voters?

As they like to say over at the United Parcel Service, what can brown do for you? Well, for Mitt Romney the answer might have been, make a bizarre play for them coveted Latino votes. The GOP presidential candidate, and leader of the 5(3) Percent Nation, appeared yesterday at a "Meet the Candidate" event in Florida sponsored by Univision in which he promised not to "round up" undocumented immigrants. Some folks, however, couldn't help but be distracted by Romney's noticeably bronzed visage (see above photo via AP) - interpreting it as less the work of an overly aggressive make-up person than a classic example of a "brownface." Sounds like a stretch even for Mittens, but then this is the same guy who said during his infamous 47% speech gaffe that "it would be helpful to be Latino." Gonna go listen to some Lighter Shade of Brown records and contemplate this.
