1. ego trip Movie Night: Planet Rock – The Story of Hip-Hop and the Crack Generation (2011).

This effective, well-made special presentation narrated by Ice-T documents the devastation of the mid ’80s to early ’90s crack cocaine epidemic that gripped the nation but that also gave birth to a burst of rap-related business. Anchored by testimonials from Snoop Dogg , B-Real and Wu-Tang’s RZA and Raekwon , it covers the sensationalistic media coverage of crack, the racially and economically biased laws and enforcement issues resulting from The War on Drugs™, as well as key hip-hop songs like “P.S.K.,” “Batterram,” and “Night of the Living Baseheads.” Planet Rock also features interviews from former drug kingpins “Freeway” Ricky Ross (the real Rick Ross) and Azie Faison aka AZ of Mobstyle . A dope documentary worth your time.
