1. Art We Slept On: Pioneer CDJs Get the Visual Artist Treatment (GALLERY).

Okay, just like this we slept crazy hard on this project, but couldn’t resist showing it some retroactive love. When it comes to the turntable vs. the CDJ – aesthetically it’s no contest; turntable wins every time, all day every day, right? That said, Pioneer’s 2011 DJ For Art campaign – which enlisted various artists and DJs to use the company’s CDJ-2000 Digital Music Player as a canvas to benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation – produced some pretty ill results. Those tapped to re-imagine these decks: BT, Bob Haro, George Thompson, Jesse Graves, Joe Hahn, Man One, Ritzy Periwinkle, ROSTARR, Steve Aoki, The Crystal Method, Tommy Lee & DJ Aero as well as Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez. Partial to Jesse Graves’ Lego joint (seen above). But all in all who knew CDJs could look this cool?
