"One of my hobbies is liberating government documents using Freedom of Information Act requests," writes Gun.io's Rich Jones. Peculiar hobby, you say? True, it's not exotic truffle hunting, or wine-tasting. But Jones' inquisitiveness has made public at least one document surely intriguing to hip-hop fanss: the late Ol' Dirty Bastard's FBI file.
READ HOW JONES ACQUIRED ODB'S FBI FILE... AND READ DETAILS OF ITS CONTENTS... AFTER THE JUMP...
Writes Jones: "The FBI's FOIA policy allows you to get the file of anybody who is deceased, so I filed a request to get all documents mentioning Russell Tyreese Jones, aka Ol' Dirty Bastard, aka ODB, aka Big Baby Jesus, member of the Wu-Tang Clan hip-hop collective, who died in 2004 of an accidental drug overdose, a lethal mixture of cocaine and the prescription drug Tramadol, a synthetic opiate.
The FBI responded with 94 pages of police reports, court proceedings and news clippings, which cover an assortment of crimes perpetrated by and against ODB."
Jones has also embedded the complete document HERE , and annotated notable pieces of notable information, including possible "connections" to the murders of three different individuals, a shoot-out with the NYPD, and "details of his being robbed and shot while staying in the Kingston projects." For Wu-Tang stans, and/or hip-hop conspiracy theorists already vexed over the creation of NYPD's hip-hop task force, which specifically targeted rappers' ties to illegal activities, this should prove an interesting read to say the least.
