RANDOM PREFACE THOUGHTS: Meeting Murs was inspirational. This cat is on his independent grind something serious and clocks loot, but he's still a cool-ass dude. When I caught up with him he was in town doing shows and had an in-store scheduled at Fat Beats later in the afternoon, but was really jonesin' to hit Midtown Comics because it was the day new issues were out. So him, his wife (real nice lady, kinda quiet) and me walked from the hotel to the store. He was really encouraging me to get into comic books and offered to buy me any that caught my eye. I declined but appreciated the gesture. After the Fat Beats appearance (I swear he talked to every single person who came through, like had actual conversations with them) we went to a deli next door. By coincidence my ego trip friend Sacha Jenkins and that cool ese Darryl Jenifer from Bad Brains were having a meeting with Murs to talk about going up to Woodstock and working on music together. Then we had to go to the show, it was in Chelsea, next to one of the 20 old ego trip offices. Murs talked to a bunch of fans after the performance so by the time I finally was interviewing him we got kicked out of the venue. The interview ended standing in front of the club. Even after a long-ass day, this dude had mad energy left. Note to self: I got to get my hustle on like Murs.
