    The Making of

    "Don't Make Me Wait" (VIDEO).

To coincide with its current month-long NYC festival of events, our friends at Red Bull Music Academy have produced a video series, "beat:repeat NYC," which focuses on the making of a handful of drum machine-fueled NYC classics. First up: The Peech Boys ' Larry Levan -produced 1982 Paradise Garage staple, "Don't Make Me Wait." With the OG LinnDrum used to make the track in hand, Garage associate and Peech Boys member Michael de Benedictus discusses how it all came together.

(Also of note: this weekend RBMA hosts a block party in honor of Larry Levan on the street of the Paradise Garage's old address. You can sign a petition to get said block's name recognized by DeBlasio and co. as "Larry Levan Way," HERE .)
