1. ego trip Movie Night:
The Legend of N*gger Charley (1972).

One will definitely see some of the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (as well as RZA's The Man With The Iron Fists ) in The Legend of Nigger Charley , the controversial early '70s blaxploitation western (which was condemned by the NAACP at the time of its release) starring action hero Fred Williamson as a slave/blacksmith turned gunslinger who has to shoot his way to freedom in a tale featuring revenge, a teenage sharpshooter, and some interracial romance between Mr. Williamson and a half-White/ half-Native American lady.

As you can probably guess from the movie's title, expect strong language (except, peculiarly enough, in this edited version, words like "shit" are censored). While some viewers will no doubt be offended, the film does contain its own brand of pro-Black themes and unexpected jewels (like the scene were Charley tells the fake preacher man: "The lost tribes of Israel were Black") and touches on the common ground between the plight of Black people in America and Native Americans ("Them folks is kinda like us. They got troubles just because of the color of their skin is different.")

    Directed by Martin Goldman.
