One thing we like to see here at egotripland is past greats still doing the damn thing — and doing it well. So we highly anticipate the return of funk and soul man Lee Fields (along with The Expressions) who drops his new Truth & Soul Records LP, Faithful Man — the follow-up to 2008’s critically acclaimed My World — on March 13th. To tide fans over until the release date, here is a short, two-part interview with the one and only Fields who reminisces about the early days (the performance that sent him on his magical way was covering James Brown at a talent show) as well as gives us the skinny on spending time with Kool & The Gang. He also speaks about those moments in everyone’s life when it’s time to “man up.”
PEEP PART TWO OF THE INTERVIEW AFTER THE JUMP…
Stayed tuned for further updates as our own Chairman Mao is scheduled to DJ at an upcoming Lee Fields & The Expressions show.
