1. Institute of Rap History's Hip-Hop Record Label Logo Artwork. (GALLERY)

After posting the "History of Rap Poster" earlier today (a fresh poster composed of rap artist logos), the Institute of Rap History (based in Zürich, Switzerland) contacted us via Facebook to show us their fine selection of artwork based on famous record label logos. Their series serves as the accompaniment to the mixtapes and monthly parties they throw across Europe, at which DJs play hot rap divvied up year by year, chronologically. In the spirit of friendly competition (that's part of what hip-hop is all about, after all), we are presenting some of the Institute's material for you.

I remember a design studio that used to advertise in the Source early issues: big black+white ads showing samples of their logo works. They were the ones who designed the logo for Flavor Unit Recs and Queen Latifah, among others. Anyone remembers the studio name?

The Drawing Board. I loved those ads and they influenced me to study Design. I believe it was a company founded by Cey Adams, Eric Haze and few other legendary graff guys.
