1. WATCH: Ice Cube Reminisces About His Life Right After Leaving N.W.A.

Although some of the stories might be known, it’s still more than worthwhile listening to Ice Cube take a trip down memory lane as he’s interviewed by Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds & Peter Rosenberg for their “Juan Epstein” podcast season premiere. The rapper/actor serves up plenty of nuggets, like how Dr. Dre had initially agreed to still work with Cube right after leaving N.W.A, how he originally intended to hook up with 3rd Bass producer Sam Sever but ending up meeting Chuck D at the Def Jam offices and proceeded to roll with the Bomb Squad, and what he told director John Singleton when the filmmaker asked him to cry on camera on the Boyz N The Hood shoot. All this, plus Eazy’s parting words to him when he left the group (“Go out and be a flop like Arabian Prince”), memories of living on Long Island (and chillin’ with L.O.N.S., EPMD and Redman) while recording AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted , the response to Common’s “I Used to Love H.E.R.” he never got a chance to record, and the making of N.W.A bio pic. (*Insert enthusiastic Cube grunt from any era here*)
