Galt MacDermot 's bond with hip-hop was consummated in the '90s when the composer/producer's albums became prime sample source material for producers - yielding the loops that'd be used for "Halftime" and "Woo-Hah" amongst other classics. This, of course, also included any number of different versions of his compositions for the Broadway show, Hair . Yet despite his success and cult adoration with a new generation of fans, MacDermot apparently remains quite reclusive. Thus French filmmakers Nico Venacio and Mathieu Rochet of Gasface went on a search for Galt in NYC last year, seeking the help of folks like Pete Rock, Prince Paul, Buckwild, Da Beatminerz, Statik Selectah, DJ Whoo Kid, Bill Adler and even ego trip's own Chairman Mao. Lookin4Galt is that film - a reverential yet humorous appreciation of the man's legacy.
