Venerable producer/emcee/Company Flow-er, El-P stopped through Red Bull Music Academy HQ recently, and in a discussion hosted by our own Chairman Mao, shared some thoughts on his life and career with expected the El-Producto caliber depth and insight. Amongst the plethora of topics touched: what the process of recording his albums is like (answer: "miserable"), the baggage of being branded "Independent as Fuck," why he no longer hates Rawkus, reflections on producing Cannibal Ox's classic Cold Vein , and why Run the Jewels - his current musical partnership with Killer Mike - pretty much had to happen.
