We’re hitting you with a double dose of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince , kicking things off with their memorable appearance at the 16th Annual American Music Awards in 1989, the night they scored wins for both Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Album ( He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper ). The duo (plus some dancers…this was the late ’80s, after all) entertained the star-studded crowd with their debut single, “Girls Ain’t Nothing But Trouble,” with none other than the late Whitney Houston seen groovin’ to the I Dream of Jeannie sounds and sights of the Running Man at the :54 mark ( LL Cool J , however, who appears late in the vid at 3:56, seems less enthused, maybe perhaps because Will Smith sounds like he’s lip syncing). But regardless, there’s no denying the energy of the performance.
