Apparently, De La Soul’s Plug 1 and 2, Posdnuos and Dave, have their own project together without Plug 3, Maseo. They am, they be: First Serve. And not only that, just to keep things extra distinct, Pos n’ Dave have adopted the character aliases Jacob “Pop Life” Barrow and Deen Whittier for the forthcoming self-titled concept album. A collab with French production team 2 & 4, it tells the story of two Queens teenagers who spend a lot of time in a basement dreaming of making it big in rap. Peep the above video for some semi-hallucinatory visualization, and listen below to “Pushin’ Aside, Pushin’ Along” – a fresh new joint which, if we’re not mistaken, appears to borrow a piano line lifted from children’s TV show, Thomas the Tank Engine.
