New single from David Banner's forthcoming free mixtape, Sex, Drugs & Video Games , pairs him with fellow Mississippian Big K.R.I.T. in an inspired effort aimed at non-believers who don't think that rap music from the South still stands strong. Backed by a prominent, sped-up sample from Virginia/North Carolina neighbors Jodeci, this splendid unified front of geographical devotion is only part of the equation. Seems Mr. Banner has some sort of scheme up his sleeve, something inspired by Louie C.K.'s recent self-produced entrepreneurial efforts that's cryptically called "The Movement," which is a plan to get two million people to download the mixtape in the hopes each pays a $1 suggested donation (or mo'), with some of the proceeds going to charity and the rest to fund a movie.
