    One of the most heavily anticipated events in Red Bull Music Academy ‘s ongoing 2014 Festival New York, the revered and enigmatic D’Angelo sat down for an extensive hour-and-a-half public conversation with author/cultural critic Nelson George this past week. With an enthusiastic audience in attendance at the Brooklyn Museum bearing witness, George guided the artist known to Uncle Sam as Michael Eugene Archer through various topics spanning his career – from his childhood raised in his family’s pentecostal ministry through his days in Richmond, VA-based hip-hop crew I.D.U. (i.e. Intelligent, Deadly but Unique) through the making of his 1995 acclaimed debut Brown Sugar and 2000’s heralded Voodoo and the apparently guitar-heavier sound of his forthcoming material.
