Last summer Dam-Funk and Bleep Labs collaborated on a pretty ill looking handheld mini drum machine/sequencer with sounds chosen by Dam himself. The original Dam Drum has since sold out. But as Stones Throw recently announced a Dam Drum 2.0 is imminent. Like its predecessor the new version runs on a 9 volt battery and is handmade and limited edition. However, its noticeably sleeker design replaces the previous version’s colored pads with black buttons. And if you know what to do with it, the funk shall thrive just the same.
From Stones Throw: Dam-Drum is a handheld drum machine and sequencer with four unique sounds selected by Dam-Funk. This is a collaboration with Dam and Bleep Labs, who designed and built the drum in Austin, Texas. Version 2.0 features four new drum sounds – three based on the Roland R70 and a pitchable bass tone modeled after a Juno 106 – with new buttons and a matte circuit board.
