Had the honor of interviewing Brian Jackson for RBMA Radio . The Brooklyn-born composer and multi-instrumentalist is probably best known as Gil Scott-Heron 's main collaborator on all the duo's essential recordings over a decade long partnership - from "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" through "Willing." In addition to sharing the stories behind classics like "Pieces of a Man," "The Bottle" and "We Almost Lost Detroit," Brian discussed the differences between recording and releasing topical material then versus now - a torch he's continued to carry with his New Midnight Band project featuring the likes of Dead Prez, Martin Luther and Chuck D. Enjoy!
