1. Black Star - "Fix Up" Produced by Madlib. (AUDIO)

File Under Black Star Friday (haha, get it?): About a month ago Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) performed this song on The Colbert Report . But frankly, we were too distracted by images of the pair's Brent Rollins designed Rawkus album cover posted up everywhere in the background to properly absorb the music. Produced by Madlib , "Fix Up" is intriguingly sonically murky, even as more eclectic Madlib Invazions go. (To be more specific, if your first impression of the tune is you're kind of waiting for the drums to come in, well, let's just say you'll be waiting a while.) That said, Talib and Yasiin sound verbally robust as ever, still enjoying enviable vocal chemistry even with Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are... in the rear view some thirteen(!) years now. And for that you could even say, as we roll into this post-Turkey Day holiday weekend, we're, ahem, thankful. Listen below. Buy it on iTunes, HERE .
