1. Behind the Scenes at Gilles Peterson’s Last Radio 1 Broadcast (VIDEO).

End of an era last night/early this morning as Gilles Peterson closed the curtain on his last “Worldwide” broadcast on BBC Radio 1 after fourteen years. As Charles Earland’s “rare groove” classic “Coming To You Live” plays in the background, sneak a casual home movie-ish peek as friends and former producers of the show chat, toast, and pop a bottle or two. Peterson takes his mix of progressive sounds and jazz-soul-funk-Brazilian-African-everything rarities over to BBC 6 Music on Saturday afternoons beginning April 7th. Listen to the last Radio 1 “Worldwide” show on BBC Radio 1’s audio player (only up for six days, so don’t dilly-dally). Peep the show’s playlist… after the jump…
