KRS-One's ambitious Human Education Against Lies project (or H.E.A.L. for short) was just the sort of thing we could use today what with all the hate in the world (see the nasty jibes at the First Lady, the tension in the Middle East and, oh yeah, the Common vs. Drake feud, as just a few examples). The Blastmaster called on an impressive line-up of friends for the song ( Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, DMC and Jam Master Jay of Run-D.M.C., Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Freddy Foxxx, Harmony and Kid Capri, to be exact) and was able to secure the directing talents of both Jonathan Demme (director of Silence of the Lambs ) and his late brother Ted Demme of Yo! MTV Raps fame as well as Fab Five Freddy and Pamela Jenkins for the video. Shot during the summer of '91 on 121st Street up in Harlem, the vid is a challenging one-shot take , and thanks to Slammin' Rap Video Magazine who was on location, we can hear from all involved (minus LL, who apparently was M.I.A. that day).
