From Black Dynamite soundtrack composer/producer/performer Adrian Younge comes his latest project, Venice Dawn, and this friggin' impressive as hell song and music video. Where Younge's Black Dynamite work was straight blaxploitation, "Lovely Lady," is, yes, a lovely and delicately soulful '60s styled tune in the Impressions mold, and features the fretwork of Motor City guitar legend, Dennis Coffey , to boot. Visually, the video nails all the details - from the hair and wardrobe (of our favorite bikini-clad nerd ) to the records on the wall of the shop (egotripland contributor Freddy Anzures of Wax Poetics credited on the design) to the color correction. Speaking of which - ain't interracial love grand? Just goes to show you you don't need a million bucks to make a short film that looks like one. Bravo!
