    Across 135th Street

    I’ve hosted a radio show called “Across 135th Street” at redbullmusicacademy.com for a few years now. Genre-wise, it tends to go wherever I’m feeling that particular month, so don’t get mad if it ain’t always old-man-hip-hop/over-the-hill-hop enough for ya. (As the Different Bags tune included herein implores, “Open your mind up.”) The latest episode consists of nearly two hours of soul, funk, crossover (no BBD/EPMD), northern, 60s R&B, popcorn, modern soul, and disco 45s – rare isht and not-so-rare isht, quality tunes throughout. The great cities of Detroit, New Orleans, and Philly are well represented as is per usual with these sort of things.

    Inspired by both the Little Dooley joint that closes out the show and the arrival of a new year, I’ve titled this mix “Now or Never.” Listen to it here:
