Presidential Debate #1 popped off last night in Denver and although Obama and Romney faced off on taxes, the deficit and Medicare, the only thing anyone seemed to be talking about afterward was Big Bird. Mitt crushed the souls of small children everywhere when he informed moderator Jim Lehrer, best known for his gig on PBS NewsHour , that one way he plans on pinching pennies is by leveling Sesame Street . Let's cut to the transcript:
Jim Lehrer: What are the differences between the two of you as to how you would go about tackling the deficit problem in this country?
Mitt Romney: I’m sorry, Jim. I’m going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I’m going to stop other things. I like PBS. I love Big Bird. I actually like you too. But I’m not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for it.
Obviously, the Interwebz responded with a cavalcade of memes mocking the Romster's remark. Here are 15 of 'em.
